A GUIDE TO HELP YOU IN YOUR SEARCH FOR A PLACE TO LIVE, OR INVEST, IN NEWCASTLE, LAKE MACQUARIE OR MAITLAND
Originally thought of as “unsuitable for settlement” due the sloping landscape, Eleebana is a little community on the shores of Lake Macquarie.
Bordered by Warners Bay to the north, Valentine and Croudace Bay to the south, and Mt Hutton to its east, Eleebana offers parks, walkways, cycleways and water views.
“In the early 1900s, the owner of the land that makes up Eleebana sold boat shed leases along the waterfront where people would stay for the summer.”
Eleebana slopes steeply from its eastern border down to the lake. For this reason, settlement didn’t occur in the area until almost the mid-1900s. In the early 1900s, the owner of the land that makes up Eleebana sold boat shed leases along the waterfront where people would stay for the summer. Permanent occupation didn’t happen until around 1935, when a road was built to join Warners Bay and Valentine. After that the suburb grew steadily.
Why rent in Eleebana?
Eleebana has quite a few waterfront parks including Banyah Park, which houses the Warners Bay Community Garden. The garden was established in 2014 and is tended by a group of community gardeners. All locals are welcome to enjoy the produce from the garden as long as they follow the “pick some, leave some” rule.
